Tornio-Haparanda enjoys a prime location in the north of Finland and Sweden. The area is easily accessible by various means of transport from both Finland and Sweden – by train, car, bus or plane.

Arrival by car

From Finland

You can easily get to Tornio, for example, along the E8 road. The distance from Oulu is about 130 km and from Rovaniemi about 120 km.

From Sweden

Haparanda is located on the E4 road, which runs from southern Sweden all the way north. For example, it is about 130 km from Luleå.

Parking

Free or reasonably priced parking is available in the centres of Tornio and Haparanda.

Shopping centres, such as Rajalla På Gränsen, have extensive parking areas.

Arrival by train

VR (Finland)

The nearest railway station is in Kemi, from where there are connections to Tornio by bus or taxi (approx. 25 km).

You can get to Haparanda by train from Luleå and Umeå, among others.

Kemi-Tornio Airport (KEM)

Located about 20 minutes’ drive from Tornio-Haparanda.

Luleå airport (LLA)

An international airport on the Swedish side, about 1.5 hours’ drive from Haparanda.
